Workshops

Learn traditional arts and crafts that make Ghana special. A few ideas:

  • Drumming and Cultural Dance

    Learn to play traditional rhythms and cultural dances at a local drumming center.

  • Ghanaian Cuisine

    Learn to cook popular Ghanaian dishes including fufu, red red, fried yam, and palava.

  • Batiking Fabric

    Use traditional techniques to design your own fabric to take home.

Night Clubs

While all of the night clubs listed are generally safe, it is best to travel in groups and even better to take a guide with you. The following clubs are open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

  • OOPS

    Located in Bubuashie, West Accra. They play music from the 90's and the early part of this decade. They also do "shout outs" for guests if you give them your name. Opens at 10:00pm.

  • Boomerang

    Located near Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra. They play a mixture of modern Western and local music. Opens at 9:00pm, but it's best to go at 10:30 pm. It closes at about 4 am.

  • Vanity

    Located at Osu in Accra. This is a new club and plays modern music. Opens at 10:00 pm and closes at about 4 am.

  • Afrodesia - Recommended *

    Located in the airport residential area near the Airside Hotel in Accra. The most expensive of them all. Plays all types of music. Opens at 10:00 pm and stays open until day break.


Restaurants

  • Busua Inn

    Continental, French, and Ghanaian food.

  • Tante Marie

    Continental as well as Ghanian dishes.

  • Buka

    Serves Continental and Ghanaian dishes. * Tennis players Venus and Serena Williams dined here when they visited Ghana.

  • Le Magellon

    Serves Ghanaian and continental foods.
